Valerie Proctor was born to the late Roosevelt and Bernell Proctor on August 30, 1962, in New
Orleans, LA. She was the seventh of eight children—seven girls and one boy. As a young girl, she
was baptized at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
When her family relocated from New Orleans to Los Angeles, CA Valerie attended Venice High
School in Culver City, CA. Later, she attended West Los Angeles City College, where she studied
dance. Valerie loved teaching and working with children. In 1987, Val was Assistant Director,
Assistant Creative Director, and Choreographer of a non-profit children's production titled Kids With
a Heart, which traveled throughout southern and northern CA from 1987-1996. Valerie worked at Los
Angeles West Side Summer Camp for six consecutive years. She worked as a teacher's aide at
Hawthorne Elementary in Beverly Hills, CA, from 1987 to 1996. Val also worked as a caregiver on
and off for various families and clients, including her beloved brother Bobby.
Valerie had two brothers and seven sisters: Roosevelt Proctor Jr. (from a previous relationship of her
Dad), Sandra, Karen, Bobby, Wanda, Sheila, Pam, and Daphne (born to Bernell and Roosevelt
Proctor). She shared her life with her long-time partner, Jack, for 33 years. They loved to travel and
spend time with family. They enjoyed music, dinners, and drives by the ocean.
On June 13, 2024, our beloved Valerie was called to her eternal resting place. She was preceded in
death by her father, Roosevelt Proctor; her mother, Bernell Proctor; her sisters, Sheila Shawel and
Daphne Proctor; and her brother, Bobby Proctor, who preceded her in death by just three weeks.
She is survived by her long-time partner, Jack Lamposone, brother Roosevelt Proctor Jr., and sisters
Sandra, Karen, Wanda, and Pamela Proctor. Nieces Chonique Sneed and Saba Sheila Jones, great
niece Natalia Sheila Jones, great nephew Emmanuel Anthony Jones, and nephew-in-law Patrick
Jones. Boston Family: sister-in-law Dorothy Proctor, nieces Yolonda, Kelly, Nikki, Sheila, and
