OBITUARY
     Octavia Capitolia Emel (nee’ Jackson) was born December 10th, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana to William and Ludie Jackson Sr. Octavia attended Xavier University where she studied Music and French to become a classical pianist. September 13, 1951, Octavia married Earl Emel Jr. and the couple moved to Los Angeles, California. Octavia and her family found community within the Lutheran church, and she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 40 years. She continued to play piano daily and shared her musical abilities with her grandchildren. Octavia possessed a spirit of goodness, generosity and grace. All who knew her loved her. She will be dearly missed. 
     Octavia is survived by her children: Elisia Emel (Bernard Strickland), Michelyn Emelle (Johnie Chase), Nedra Anne Emel, Eryn Eschelle Emel, (Jeffery Koontz), and Erique Earle Emel (Chiquita Emel); Grandchildren: Eschelle Etienne Washington, Shakir Étienne-Toussaint Emel (Charla Emel), Ahmed Jelani Emel, Imani Emel Miniex, Tsfaye Butler, and Kristian Lee Emel; Great grandchildren: Rhyelle Domingo, Anu Edwards, Étienne Emel, Isaac Emel, and Kaleb Emel, Erynique Butler and Amani Butler; Great-great grandchild: Zo’Rhyah Williams; Nieces and nephews Wayne Jackson, Sonny Jackson, Charmaine Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Kevin Jackson; Cousins: Melba Edwards, Anthony Anderson and Clare Allen; and other loved, extended family.
