Joe Nathan Leverette Jr., was born in Raleigh, North Carolina ~ the oldest of six brothers and sisters. He joined the United States Air Force and served a tour of four years. He then moved to Stockton, CA where he earned a degree in Sociology and went to work for the Federal Government. While living in the San Joaquin Valley, Joe met an married Inez Norman, and from that marriage was a daughter, Toni and two sons, Joe III & Paul.
In 1972 Joe transferred to Los Angeles where he held many positions during his career. But Joe always found time to serve his community. He supported John Mack foundation, the A. Phillip Randolph Civil Rights Group and sat on the Advisory Board of the Urban League.
In 1987 Joe married Maxine Clark, he inherited a blended family of 2 daughters, Charlene & Jacqueline, one grandson, Sean. Joe resigned from a position held at First A.M.E. to join the Wilshire Family where his wife Maxine had been a member for many years. In 1995 Joe retired from Dept of Labor, as Assistant District Manager LA area.
Joe was a man who Loves God, honors Jesus Christ and always stood up for righteousness toward his fellow man. Joe adored his children, grandchildren and great grands. On October 29, 2020 Joe was called to his eternal home, where he's resting in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
