Bobby Proctor was born on August 21,1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana,
to the late Roosevelt and Bernell Proctor. Bobby was the third born of eight children. The only
son among 7 sisters. As a young boy he attended New Zion Baptist church (where his
grandfather Alex Jackson was a pastor.)
As an adult he attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and later,
Understanding Principles Church. Bobby truly enjoyed praising and worshiping God.
Bobby attended West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana, where he played trombone in
his high school marching band. Shortly after high school Bobby enlisted in the US Navy.
After an honorable discharge he returned to Louisiana and soon after joined his family who
had moved from New Orleans to California. A few years after moving to California he met a
young lady named Debra and the two of them procreated a son they named Christopher
Proctor. Debra and Bobby ended their relationship and years later he met and married Janice
Gray and became stepfather to Janice's son Donte Gray. They divorced several years later and
remained cordial friends until his final day.
Bobby worked at Dunn Edwards Paint Store as head salesman
for several decades prior to his illness when he permanently retired.
Bobby was a quiet, humble spirit, yet strong as a lion, with a great sense of humor.
Bobby had one brother (Roosevelt Jr.) from a previous relationship of his dad (Roosevelt).
He also had seven sisters (Sandra, Karen, Wanda, Sheila, Pamela, Valerie and Daphne.) by
Bernell and Roosevelt Proctor. As his mother would always say "he's my only boy".
On May 26, 2024, at 2:25 am our beloved Bobby was called home to his eternal resting place.
